Born May 4, 1929 in Ixelles, Belgium, Audrey Kathleen Hepburn Ruston, her true name, was the daughter of a rich Dutch baron and Irish investor. She had two half brothers from her father's first marriage.
Before passing her childhood in England, her mother made her return to Holland during the war. It was next as a dancer that the young Audrey wanted to express herself. She performed in theaters at the end of the 1940s, in Gigi which earned great success and opened doors for her in cinema. In 1953, she brought home the Oscar for the best actress in Roman Holiday. She would be nominated 4 times after for this honored award.
Becoming one of the greatest actresses of the 20th century, she is distinguished as one of the three top actresses of all time by the American Film Institute in 1999.
In her private life, Audrey Hebpurn had two sons, Sean, from her first marriage with Mel Ferrer and Luca, from her second marriage with Italian neurological psychiatrist, Andrea Dotti.
She was equally engaged in important humanitarian causes, notably for Unicef, where she was the ambassador from 1988 to 1992. She passed the last years of her life principally supporting the cause that she held dear to her heart.
Audrey Hebpurn, is also a style, a certain incarnation of « chic », inspired by the designer Givenchy for whom Audrey was a friend and muse.
